ISABEL BERGLUND

Selected works

Isabel Berglund’s sculptural works emerge through a sensitive exploration of material, colour, and space. At the core of her practice is hand-knitted yarn, which she transforms and reconfigures with a keen attention to its aesthetic qualities and tactile potential. Her sculptures inhabit a compelling tension between meticulous craftsmanship and an organic, almost freely growing visual language. Carefully constructed yet seemingly alive, the works oscillate between control and spontaneity, structure and fluidity.

Isabel Berglund (DK, 1971) lives and works in Copenhagen. She holds an MA in Fashion Knitwear from Central Saint Martin’s College of Fashion and Textile, London and a bachelor in textiles from the School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Her works have been exhibited at museums, art institutions and galleries in Denmark and in Europe, Asia, the USA, e.g., sitespecific installation at Illum store, solo at Trapholt in Kolding (DK), solo at Fanø Art Museum (DK), at Madoura in France, and at FAU University Gallery in Florida. She has participated in e.g. Cheongju Craft Biennale in Korea and at several Mindcraft exhibitions curated by the Danish Arts Agency, in connection with Salon de mobile in Milan.
